Air condition season is right around the corner! Mattex is offering you a few quick tips that will help your a/c system run efficiently throughout the summer. These quick tips can also help preserve the life of your a/c system.

·        Change your air filter often to make sure it’s free of dust particles and other debris. This is very important to do especially after making any home improvements. It is recommended to change your filter once a month or as you feel necessary. In general, make sure your air filter is clean in order to maintain proper air flow through the system.

·        Make sure overgrown grass and weeds are cleaned away from the outside system. This could cause blockage of air flow which will taking the system longer to cool your house down, costing you extra money.

·        When mowing your lawn try to make sure the grass is being blown from the mower in the opposite direction of your a/c system. Small particles of grass clippings will fly into the system and clog the condenser, blocking air flow from the unit.

·        When weed whacking pay close attention to wires attached to your a/c unit that may be close to the ground so you don’t cut them and end up with costly repairs to the system.

·        Make sure all the registers are open for proper airflow throughout the entire house. It makes great sense to shut off registers to rooms that are not in use as much as other rooms. But having those registers closed cuts off air flow and forces all the air to come out of the registers that are open. This again will make your a/c system work extra hard to cool down your home and unfortunately can cause damage to the compressor which can be a costly repair.
